Shoe Overload!

Image
What on earth!  Yes, this is what you would typically see at our back door.  Shoe Overload! The following pictures should tell you a little about why this should be avoided. (A) This hanging shoe contraption hangs on the door in the laundry room.  I think I am the only one in the house that knows this exists. (B) These three bins are also in the laundry room for shoes.  These get used a little more than the hanging rack.  Only because when the boys - all three of them, take off their shoes at the laundry room door I toss them in here. (C)  This basket sits at the double doors into the dining room.  Although we strictly use our back door(s) for entry we are not partial to just one.  So, when I noticed the shoe pile up here I put this basket there. And (D) - we do have closets for EACH person in the house that are roomy enough to accommodate a few pairs of shoes. So, back to this picture.  Brittany had FOUR...

Family Photo Sneak Peek

Image
One thing we can count on every year is taking a family photo in the cotton field.  It is after all, one of Doug's greatest loves! This day usually consists of some whines, but this year wasn't too bad.  However, I do not recommend wearing a skirt trying to beat the camera timer. Here's your sneak peek:  Brittany says I made her look like Superman in this shot, but I think it's breath taking!  I'm partial because they are my children, but I love to photograph them!  Did I mention these were taken on our Anniversary?  Happy 7 years, Doug, and wishing for many more! You know, I can't remember how much I paid for that tripod....that's how much I love it.  Scratched up legs were well worth capturing this sweet moment!! When I catch up on editing, I'll post more!

At a Loss

Image
Even been at a loss for ... words ... time ... opportunities ... someone? Though all the above is true for me I can say there is a difference between being at a loss and being lost.  My heart is heavy today thinking about the loss of Emanuel.  My prayers are with his precious family, his sweet friends, and the students and faculty at Patrick Henry Academy.  His courageous fight is a true testimony of his Faith in our Lord and Savior.  He was never LOST, and because of that he is now rejoicing in heaven. Do you trust enough in God that you too may join him one day?  I am at a loss, but never lost of the path he has chosen for me. The smile that stole the hearts of many! PHA's homecoming was dedicated to Emanuel "Fight For #21!"

The Perfect Saturday!

Image
Do you usually say your Saturday is perfect when it starts at 7AM.....didn't think so, but ours sure did today! Our Saturdays have been consumed by Soccer and College football couch potatoes.  Today was not much different! Lockwood calls the toss (only took two tries) He didn't want to take it from that sweet girl! So CUTE :) Speedy!! So after the game and after I schooled Britt and her friend on Rock Band - they got bored and decided to do the following hilarious-ridiculously crazy-NEW sport! MUD wrestling!!  When done only a few spots of white were left on them.  Then, of course, the boys just had to do it too! Laughter was all over today and that deems for a perfect day anytime in my book!  Oh, and to add to the perfection - WAY TO GO TIGERS!!  Awesomeness :)

Healthier Lifestyle in progress!

Image
Doug hounded me long enough to go see the Doctor so they could "fix" me.  Well, I am in hopes of being on the path to doing just that.  However, Doug did not like some of the specifics to get me there!  One major factor being the change in OUR diet.  He is at current time contemplating divorce if I stray off the path of cooking those good ole rich Southern meals he loves.  Please pray for both of us!!

Weather Hormones. . . .

Image
Okay - NO, I am not as crazy as you think!  I know the next season is Fall, not Winter! But sitting in my office for the past couple weeks makes me feel like Winter!  My office has two desks and with those desk also come seasons.  In the Summer time I want no part of the computer area and in Winter I want no part of the front desk!!  The air vent blows massively on that desk and I have already began to leave sweaters on my chair. Any who - I love these snow pictures from two years ago.  I thought they were lost forever along with thousands of others lost to the tragic hard drive crash last year.  The train track is in Historic Estill (hehe) and the other is Doug's parents old laundry shed (yes, they still use it for that purpose).  I also remember that day being the perfect snow day for our family :-) Happy ALMOST Fall!

Time for Soccer Saturdays!

Image
Doug says I go into my "soccer mode" on Saturday mornings during soccer season.  I just can't help myself - I LOVE IT!  This year is even better with all the kids playing.  I am so excited to see how the boys will like it.  So far they have really enjoyed practice.  It's a change swapping from Brittany's competitive age to U6 where it's about having Fun and Learning rather than winning.  On the other hand, expecting great things from Britt and her team!  So GOOOO Blue Crush and Cyclones!
